Forbes reports a study which finds US raidiologists order more follow up mammograms and biopsies than in other counties due to liability concerns. The Risque-wife confirms (the part about why it is good not to be subjected to mammograms — not that part about the increased litigation risk).
An interesting side note in the abstract is that the radiologists’ fears of being sued were much higher than historical probabilities. Who says there is nothing wrong with the medical malpractice liability system?
