i am a first time home owner. i recently bought a home here on the gulf coast. i had some damage to my property. i have my wind and hail coverage through "mississippi windstorm " i thought my deductable if anything should ever happen would be $500 the amount i opted to pay. the insurance appraiser came to check the damage and informed me my deductable would be 2% of my dwelling price (in a named storm) has there ever been a storm here that hasn't had a name? if my damages are less than my 2% deductable, i might as well pay out of my own pocket and forget having wind and hail coverage. it this standard for every wind and hail policy? this is all new to me. need help...
